M&S 10 Year Old Tawny
£14.99, reduced to £11.99, until 27th Nov
I know it’s still November, but when a good wine is on offer, it’s worth stocking up nice and early. This Tawny is made by Taylor’s and £11.99 is a ridiculous price. I serve mine chilled. In fact, there’s a bottle in my fridge right now. Perfect for a glass at the end of the evening.
As a lot of Tawny this smells very earthy and hardly fruity at all. However, the taste is intensely savoury, spicy and delicious with great warming qualities.
Hochar Père et Fils 2004/05, Château Musar
£11.99, reduced to £10.49, until 31st Jan
This is the second wine of Ch Musar.Pale and brownish. Gorgeous, ageing smell. Not old, but it’s starting to become wonderful. Interesting, complex, fabulous dinner party wine. Farmyardy, but also fresh strawberry aromas.
£10.95 at The Wine Society, normal price
Also at Amazon, but for £12.99
