This site has grown from a simple wine offers search, into a multi -purpose wine site offering insight into wines on offer and not. I hope I've made the site simple to use and that it offers useful information for the beginner and enthusiast, but also the wine-obsessed bargain junkie, with whom I share a deep love of a good buy.
Search your local store for special offers without picking up the car keys and stock up on your favourite wine when it's marked down. Have a vinous rummage without leaving the house. You'll be directed to the results page which will have useful icons, further directing you a bank of tasting notes - great, good value or pretty disgusting wines. I think it's as important to be aware of the real monsters as it is to be clued up about great wines. And so much more fun to write! All these notes have been taken during the sampling of the thousands of wines I try each year, thanks to the suppliers hosting great press tastings. The notes sit on the discussion forum, but can be searched independently - see below.
The offers arrive on the site before they go live in the shops, giving you plenty of time to plan ahead. The results page shows both the start and end dates of the offers. It is worth noting the vintage that is on offer, particularly for Old World wines where vintages can make quite a difference.
In the Discussion Forum we can share our tasting experiences as they happen, throw questions into the arena and can all keep up to speed with the wine in the bottle. All my notes are held on the Forum, and also yours. Why not make your own tasting notes, as you drink, and post them in the Offers Quaffed section. The Forum is also the place to let me know if anything about the site is worrying you or if there's something you'd like me to include. If you particularly like, say, Argentinian Malbec, let me know and I'll slog through a group of them and let you know which I think's best.
This is a simple search of all the tasting notes on the Forum - wines I've tasted throughout the year; not necessarily on offer. You may have seen a wine on the shelf and not been sure whether you want to commit. Someone may have brought a bottle with them when they came to dinner and you're not sure whether to drink it or pass it on to someone you love, or hate.
Another part of the site is an archive of my weekly wine articles. Each week I taste a group of similar wines, with a group of enthusiasts. We taste blind and mark wines for smell and taste. The panel write down their thoughts and I pull them all together. Rather than scrolling down the very long list, we now have a Search.
