Shez, yeah, too right I did, of course. I picked up 5, along with a pair of vina Pomal 2008 rioja. I went back for a few more of both - All gone.
I dont know this wine either. But I've known a few good Montepulcianos, and they were fab with a proper Italian dinner. So, you've got plenty of time to work out the best way to have them

Have a natter with one of your Italian friends, someone in the office, or whatever.
Yep, we have to wait, the longer the better, it seems ! With this big and bold 2009. Poliziano are very proud of their south west facing vineyard. Hold the bottle up to the light of an old tungsten light bulb - this is a dark Sangiovese.
Knowing rioja like the back of my h . . . the Vina Pomal 2008 reserva is a bit wierd on the 1st day, the oak is quite different. The American oak is not pop corny at all - tastes more European - but it is American oak barriques ! Almost rustic, dark and broody. On day three though, the wine is wonderfully resolved and very very rich - Nice for the price
I'm enjoying a glass as I write, I'm finishing the bottle now. Ripe tempranillo.
When you crack a Vina Pomal - double decant, and leave to build.
