Appealing, oaky nose. The alcohol leads, unfortunately.

Well, the label worked on me. Wouldn't have tasted this except it has a beautiful black and yellow twirly lable. Not a great deal on the nose. Dry and hot. Not great.

Nipozzano Chianti Rufina Riserva, Frescobaldi 2008 £18.99 Majestic
Nothing on the nose. Nice fresh acidity and quite a chunky tannic structure. Rough.

Barbera d'Alba, Villa de Forville 2009 £12.49 Majestic
Oddly chemical nose. Intensely, sweetly, fruit aroma. Very rich flavour, like a ripasso or amarone. Baked and warm flavour. Ideal for amarone lovers.

Promis, Gaja, Toscana IGT 2007 £25 Majestic
Odd blue and white label, like a ship's flag. Gorgeous, rich, slightly farmyardy nose. Very serious and well-made wine. Concentrated, long and very, very good.
