In the past i have been a lover of these Cru wines, espec many a deal of half bottles from Averys of bristol ... allowed me to try many of them espc in good vintages ... nothing like a mature Moulin a Vent in a good year from a good grower.

This one was AWFUL ... thin, lifeless, insipid and quite unappealing ... a real waste of £10 but most of all a real disappointment ... it has had some decent reviews ... maybe my bottle was flawed, maybe.

i lived 9 miles away from the store and dont drive, and it would have been 10 or so days before I would normally travel there again. I could not bear the sight of that partially drunk bottle hanging around the kitchen reminding me of the loss and joy of a taste of France .. so it went down the sink ... along with my £10 .... aaargh and urgh

Bad luck old chap.

Regarding returns, if a wine is truly dreadful, but not obviously faulty, I will return it regardless. Leave the wine open for a week and return it with the complaint that the wine is oxidised/faulty. They cannot prove you did not open it the previous evening.

Never throw away a wine receipt.

Also, full credit to M&S’s returns policy (if this still applies)- the last time I returned a wine to M&S they told me to choose a wine of equal value from stock and refunded me the cost of the original bottle.

Chabod, please don't throw away the bottle. The bottle and a credit card entry could be just enough, if you didn't buy anything else at the same time. Certainly, you should tell them you had a faulty bottle. MAV is generally a firmer and more concentrated Cru, with more structure due to the iron in the soil there, and will mature well. For bulk production from 3 - 5 years. But you have described watery tat ?

This wine was tipped by Antony Rose of the Indy. Do we trust Mr Rose ?
There is nothing that I have sampled recently, in his tasting notes that I am able to test his opinion.

What does Jancis say of 2007 Moulin-à-Vent ?
