100% Pinot Noir grown on a mixture of limestone, clay and marl. Vinification takes place in stainless steel vats following cold pre-fermentation soak for 4 days and maceration for 19 days. The wine is matured in Nevers and Allier oak barrels of which 35% are new. Winemaker Philippe Prost.

Fragrant and appealing. Lovely, oaky, spicy, savoury taste and yet sweetly fruity. Lovely.

:qofgold:
Alc 13%, TA 3.50g/l, pH 3.68, RS 1.50g/l. Available from Wine Direct and 192 branches.

Bouchard are working harder it seems ? Has Phillippe Prost been bought in to change things at the Budget end of the business ?

Are you absolutely sure about that Star Mel ? I have found Bouchard's budget end from the Cote d'Or to be generally mediocre. The 2005 offering was dull for £15, the same money, and 2005 was a better vintage in Savigny. Have you tried Potel's Savigny offering for £15, his 2005's were much nicer, cleaner, and properly fragrant.

Did you taste this after that thin Blason mix ? Blason claim in their marketing hype, that the cuvee is assembled from vineyards with outcrops of limestone & marl in the Haut Cote de Nuits. That statement is laughable and absurd. These very special marl outcrops in the subsoil in the Cote de Nuits are occupied by the famous 1er Cru and Grand Cru Village domaines. The chances of any significant quantity of that fruit going to the Blason Co-op are ..........

In fact, it WAS tasted directly after the Blason Hautes Cotes de Nuits, yes.

I still award it a star.

Mel, Thanks for confirming that award, :) I will definitely mention it to other folks now.

If you would like to make any comment on it's Keeping and Evolving ability (No pressure then), I'm sure there would be quite a few folks who'd be very interested.

Thank you again - for responding.
