65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Average vine age 40 years, located in Monbadon, in the district of Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion, 10km from St-Émilion, on the highest plateau in the Gironde, favourably facing the south-east. The soil is 20cm of chalk and silt topsoil over deep limestone bedrock. Harvested from 25th Sept 2006 , mainly at night to avoid daytime heat with yield of 41hl/ha. Long maceration (3 weeks) making for a deeply coloured, relatively full-bodied wine. 90% of the wine is aged in oak barrels, 25% of which are new. Oak, spice and fruit on the nose – very inviting. The alcohol’s pretty warm for this light weight. Very spicy flavours and quite rustic. Alc 13.5%, TA 2.95g/l, RS <2g/l. Available from Wine Direct and 192 branches.
