Caught this on a long haul NZ to LDN flight last month and thought it was just a stock film for French speaking/Francophile travellers but then saw it was being released in Dec in London.
Long haul flights and subtitled films aren't always the best mix but this was a highlight.
Not in any way a nostalgic, sentimental portrait of artisan winemakers but more a tough critique on patriarchal family structures in French (Bordeaux) winemaking. Plenty of great wine is mentioned and consumed throughout the movie.
Apparently attendees of the premier get a glass Clos Fourtet, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru from the vineyard featured in the movie.
Definitely one of the best wine based movies I’ve seen but then there aren’t that many - good or bad...
Edit - The wine promotion was mentioned by Jason Solomons in the guardian - talking about product placement
