Just picked up a few today for £6.94 seemed rude not to.
Always like trying unknown producers, not many notes on CT either ??
Some extra data found on BK wine.
There are some 10 hectares of vineyard mainly on the hillside. The vineyards lie surrounded by the Languedoc landscape with garrigue bush vegetation, forests, truffles land and fields. The soils are mainly of the type called “villafranchien”; it is old volcanic soil (basalt). The vineyards are planted with a variety of grapes, typical of the Languedoc and adapted to its soil and terroir: syrah, grenache, mourvèdre, cinsaut, oeillade and carignan for the red wines. The white wines are made from grenache blanc, and roussanne. Domaine Lacroix Vanel is now in organic farming – the conversion started in 2007 with Ecocert.
Domaine Lacroix Vanel uses very little “intervention” in the winemaking. Usually fermentation is done with the natural yeasts. Some soft punching down, and moderate extraction fro the reds during the fermentation. Exactly how the vinification is done varies and depends on the vintage.
Jean-Pierre Vanel is also a music lover so the wines of Domaine Lacroix Vanel have names that sometimes relate to music: Fine Amor, Ma Non Troppo, Natura Rerum, Melanie, E Blanc.
