JE confuses me and apols if this has been answered here before. The wine was always £8.99 and always good. Then I had a bottle for £7.99 from Sains which disappointed. There now seems to be the word Stich on the label and the price is all over the place.
Anyone?
The word stich was first introduced for the 2008 vintage. The Stich family and the Jackson family own the land.
The 2007 was normally £8.99 at Sains, then £7.99 at Waitrose as a clear out 2007 stocks price.
Then Majestic offered 2008 JE Stich for £6.99.
However, I tried to track down the remaining 2007 stocks in Majestic warehouses. None could be found by my manager, until Shezza spotted a dozen at Vinipolis in London Bridge. Goose found 21 bottles in Wales.
Shezza being a perfect Gent, had them ship the dozen to my local, therefore, I was able to acquire the JE 2007 for the latest lower price of £83.88 for the dozen.
I stumbled across 1994 retail prices some time ago in the Indy. From memory, JE 1993 was £6.99 or £5.99 by the case, Cloudy B was £11.99. most others were £5.99 or less, except the Saint Clare's, Clifford bay and Montana Terroir series.
That's the pricing and vintage time line that I know.
The New Zealand government propped the industry with export sweeteners during the recession, is my take on it all since last MSB release August 2008 MSB Futures are clearly on the way up for similar quality - is my opinion.
