Chablis that is lean and athletic. Marks & Spencer offer at the moment
An elegant style, only 12.5% Alc that is most welcome and appreciated, a rather posh bottle, quite austere, very pale, quite minerally. As far away on the scale from the old Oz chardonnay as you can get. I respect this style, a welcome change. The wine is ever so pale and dry. Scale 1 for dryness, perfect for a racy dinner party starter. Light, very light, and cuts the plate like mad with typical chablis acidity, blamley apple with pink grapefruit pithyness, then a wet granite shortish finish, that is pleasurable if you want this style. A style with attitude, and certainly not for folks who need a soft and well worn armchair.
The TN on the Marks site is slightly inaccurate, there is no leasy creamyness in this cuvee.
Buy this now for the deal, if you want the lean & traditional chablis.
