Ha ha - I've tried the Chardonnay at £6.99 less (25%) = £5.24. Actually it was ok for a central France vin de pays Chard. Interesting that you found the finish drying, if I remember right, exactly the same feeling with this varietal, short finish, then drying gums and palate....Odd. I wonder what they use for fining or preserving, or some other process ?
