Made for Tesco by DFJ Vinhos SA. Classic fermentation method. Fermentation up to 30º C in the first 2/3, and lowering down to 20º C during the last 1/3. During the whole fermentative process, pumping over 2 times per day, using each time half of the volume contained in the vat. After the alcoholic fermentation, the cap is plunged for 30 days, and during that period, extraction of the gentle tannins is conducted, along with the malolactic fermentation and the natural stabilization of the wine. Aged in American, French of Allier and Portuguese oak barrels of 225 Lt for 6 months. Winemaker José Neiva is the master at producing wine that shows the power and complexity of the grape while making it accessible in style and price. Ripe, rich, dark fruity, like Jamaica ginger cake and ripe blackberries. Sweet, dark fruity with grainy tannins and some liquorice on the finish. Very interesting and more New World in style. 13.5% (432 stores) 27/06/08 |

Nose is a bit of vanilla and liquorice and some garden shrubbery........But the oak is beautifully integated into the flavour, a scented oak, and the friut opens up to black plums (ripe damsens) ripe blacberries, and malty bits (rather than ginger cake) and is sweetly circumscribed, finish is short.....but it is very nice. Not heavy, but full, not jammy, but clear and free, not cloying. Very dark purple fruit that as Mel says ....is very Interesting. However I'm upgrading 'very interesting' to Good Alltogether a very good effort, and "One Hell Of A lot Better" than a load of Fashionable heavily marketed Stuff. ![]() |
